Q. Isn't one treatment good enough to get rid of my bugs?
A. Not usually. Current pesticides have a relatively short residual life that needs to be reapplied about every 60 days to be continuously effective. If we treated your home once, you would see pests again in a couple of months. Our job is to create a barrier around your home and maintain that for you. Just like weeding a garden, or cleaning your house, it's on-going maintenance.
Q. I'd like information about the chemicals used to treat my house.
A. We have an MSDS/Labels page on our website that has information about the materials used during our treatments. If you have questions about anything, feel free to call and talk with one of our staff at (704) 494-8494 or (888) 7MANTIS or email us at mantispcinc@aol.com.
Q. Do you offer any discounts or incentive programs?
A. Yes. We have a couple of special programs. The first is our Referral Program, that offers customers $25 off their treatment for each person refered. The second program is for customers who Pay the Year In Full, they will receive 5% off the annual price.
Q. What can I do to make my house less pest friendly?
A. See our Seasonal Tips page for advice on keeping your home pest-free.
Q. Does Mantis offer a guarantee?
A. Our Bug-Free Maintenance Plan is backed by our guarantee that your home is pest-free or else we will retreat your home for free until the problem is solved.
Q. Why does Mantis treat the interior for the initial?
A. The initial treatment of the Bug-Free Maintenance Plan is meant to flush all the insects out from inside your home. During this treatment your technician will treat both inside and out. The treatment includes spot treating with a B&G sprayer, laying down baits under sinks and in other target areas, taking down webbing, put mouse packs in the attic when needed, treating under appliances, around entrypoints to the home, and any other services your technician deems nessasary. During the following visits your technician will focus on reactivating the exterior barrier of the home. We feel this method most effectively controls pest populations, while minimizing the use of pesticides inside the home. If you need service on the interior of the home, please let us know and we'll be happy to take care of any problem.
Q. Will the bug spray from the home improvment store work as well as your treatments?
A. No. We use chemicals that are regulated by the NC State Department of Agriculture, and as such are not meant for private use. The chemicals we use have a longer residual life and are meant to be used in strict accordance to their label directions. An individual can get good results from treating the home as a do-it-yourselfer, but it will take consistent effort. Most of our customers prefer to leave the pesticide spraying up to the professionals.
Q. Do the chemicals have an odor? Will they stain my carpet or walls?
A. Well, we use quite a few different products, so the answer is yes and no. If used correctly, the chemicals we use in our B&G sprayer inside your home will have no odor. The chemical is microencapsulated, so it does not give off any offensive smells. If you or a family member are sensitive to pesticides than it would be best to stay in a different room while the treatment dries (10-15 minutes). This same treatment will not stain your walls or floors any more than water. Some of the baits and granular treatments may have an odor. The mouse/insect sticky packs used in the garage have a slight peanut butter odor, but they are pesticide free. For the exterior of your house we use a power sprayer and a very effective pesticide. This does have a slight odor, but it dries quickly and the smell dissipates.
Q. Is it nessasary to treat my home during the winter months?
A. Yes if you want to stay pest-free. Winter time is when the hidden pests come into your home for safe harborage. These include: mice, rats (less common), clothes moths, pantry pests, spiders, and more. Keeping your barrier maintained during the winter months also is important to the early hatchlings that will try to migrate into your house. As long as the barrier is activated, they will be killed while crawling over it.
Q. Does your guarantee mean I'll never see another pest in my house again?
A. Unfortunatly, no. It's an imperfect world, and so we can't guarantee bugs from flying into your house from the neighbors property or riding in on a bag of groceries. What we can do is promise you free reservices if a problem arises. Just call us anytime and we'll be out by the next business day.
